  • You attempt to return to the previous installation of Office 97.

MORE INFORMATION

Initial Customized Setup of Office 97 SR-1

The consecutive errors referenced in the Symptoms section occur if the following conditions are true for your enterprise:
  • You installed Office 97 with a customization which excluded Outlook 97.

  • You installed Outlook 98, and updated Mso7enu.dll in the local workstation folder.

  • You exported the registry key BinDirPath before installing Outlook 98, and restored the key after the installation.

  • You used the switch, /qn1 for a Quiet mode installation.

Tthe Setup path you used may have been similar to the following:

O:\off97sr1.pro\setup /L <List File>.lst /b3 /qn1 /g "c:\off97sr1.log"
The /b3 switch designates that the Office runs from the network server, the /g switch creates a log of the installation session, and the path in quotation marks designates the Setup session log file. The file <List File>.lst and the path is generated by the Network Installation Wizard (NIW), and contains instructions for Setup options.

Installation of Office 2000

You installed Office 2000 with the following options:
  • Outlook 2000 is installed to run on the local computer.

  • All other Office programs are installed to run from the network.

Reinstallation of Office 97 SR-1

You attempt to run setup with the same parameters you used in the initial installation, using the same switch sequence.

Successfully Reinstalling Office 97 SR-1

To reinstall Office 97 using the NIW customization originally created, do not use the /qn1 switch. The path should be similar to the following:

O:\off97sr1.pro\setup /L <List File>.lst /b3 /g "c:\off97sr1.log"
Setup will continue in Normal mode.
