OL2000: (IMO) ErrMsg "Status: Missing Reglib32.dll" in Modem Configuration Wizard

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to use the Symantec Fax Starter Edition for the first time, you may receive the following message in the Modem Configuration Wizard:

Status: Missing Reglib32.dll

The wizard will not complete successfully from this point.

CAUSE

You chose either the Run from Network or Run from CD option during the installation of Outlook. Symantec Fax Starter Edition is not installed properly in this mode.

RESOLUTION

Reinstall Outlook and choose Run from My Computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Reglib32.dll file, noted as missing in the error message, may actually be installed on your computer. When you install Outlook in the Run from Network mode, the setup program attempts to install the fax program locally on your computer, but it will not run properly in this mode.
