OL2000: How to Create a Distribution Lists View

ID: Q227183

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SUMMARY

This article describes how to create a view that only displays your distribution lists.

MORE INFORMATION

Distribution Lists (DL) are a new feature of Outlook Contacts. The DL performs the same function as the distribution list in the Personal Address Book (PAB) and eliminates the need for a PAB in your mail profile. Distribution List items are intermixed in your Outlook Contacts and can be cumbersome to find. To make the DL items easier to locate, create a new custom view.

Create a Custom Distribution List View

These steps assume you are already in your default Contacts folder.
  1. On the View menu, point to Current View, click Define View, and then click New.

  2. In Name of view, type Distribution List.

  3. In Type of view, click to select Card, and then click OK.

  4. Click Filter, and on the Advanced tab, click Field, point to All Distribution list fields, and then click to select Message Class.

  5. Under Condition, click to select is(exactly).

  6. Under Value, type IPM.DistList, and then click Add to list.

  7. Click OK, OK, and Close.

To view the new Distribution List view, on the View menu, point to Current View and click to select Distribution List.
