SBCM: Error Message: "SBCMSTRT caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL"

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Small Business Customer Manager, used with:

SYMPTOMS

When you open a database in Small Business Customer Manager (SBCM) you may receive the following error message:

Sbcmstrt
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists contact the program vendor.

When you click the Details button you see the following message:

SBCMSTRT caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL ...

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you open and then close Help prior to opening a database.

WORKAROUND

Do not use ALT+H, or F1, or the Help button to open Help while in the Microsoft Customer Manager dialog box that prompts you for the database to open.

If you encounter this error you may be able to click Close and continue working with your database.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
