OL2000: Can't Run Macro After Renaming Visual Basic for Applications Project

SYMPTOMS

When you click a button on the Outlook toolbar, or select a command from a menu, Outlook displays the following error:

Cannot find Project1.ThisOutlookSession.<MacroName>


CAUSE

You renamed the Visual Basic for Applications project from Project1 to something else.


RESOLUTION

Use either of the following methods to work around the problem:

  • Rename the project, Project1.


  • -or-

  • Delete the toolbar button or menu command causing the problem, and then create a new toolbar button or menu command that will use the new project name.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur with other Microsoft Office programs, such as Microsoft Word.
