OL2000: Attachments Missing When Message Is Received

SYMPTOMS

When you use Outlook to send a message that includes an attachment, the message may be received without the attached item. If you view the message in the Sent Items folder, the attachment is not visible.

CAUSE

The attachment is removed when you send the message in plain text format and you use Microsoft Word 97 as your e-mail editor.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, do one of the following:

Upgrade to Word 2000.
Do not use Word as your e-mail editor.
Use a different mail format.

NOTE: If you use Outlook Rich Text Format (RTF) as your e-mail format, attachments are also removed if your mail server does not support RTF.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
