OL2000: (IMO) Error Message " Out of Memory or System Resource" When Sending Page by E-mail

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 for Windows 98
NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

When you send a Web page from Microsoft Internet Explorer by e-mail, you may get the following error message:

Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.


RESOLUTION

There are two different methods to work around this issue:

  • You can have Outlook running in the background while running Internet Explorer in the foreground. Start Outlook and then switch to Internet Explorer to send the Web page.


    • or

  • Turn off the option to Send messages immediately when connected.


For the second method, use the following steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.


  2. On the Mail Delivery tab, click to clear the Send messages immediately when connected check box.


  3. Click OK and OK to close.


  4. Quit Outlook.


    5. You can now send pages by e-mail without error. The pages will be sent the next time you connect and send mail from Outlook.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

In Internet Explorer 5, you can send the current Web page to an e-mail recipient. To do this, on the File menu, point to Send and then click Page by e-mail. An e-mail message will open with the Web page already inserted and the title set to the name of the Web page. If you get the above error message when doing this, use one of the two methods in the "Resolution" section to work around it.
