OL2000: Task Subject Lost When Selecting Contact with ALT+C Keyboard Command

ID: Q240327

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you save and close a new Outlook Task item, the Subject field is missing.

CAUSE

After you typed the Subject you opened the Insert Contact dialog box by pressing ALT+C.

RESOLUTION

Choose one of the following workarounds.

  • Open the Insert Contacts dialog box by clicking the Contacts button in the new task. Inserting the contact information in this way does not cause the Subject field entry to be lost when you click Save and Close in the task.

  • Enter the Contact information for the task before you type the Subject. This method will retain the Subject no matter how you insert contacts information (either using a mouse click or with ALT+C keyboard commands).
