OL2000: Sent Mail Disappears with Focal Point Extensions Loaded

ID: Q241713

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you send a message using Outlook, the message may seem to disappear; it does not appear in the Outbox or Sent Items folders.

CAUSE

This symptom may occur if you have Global Village Communication's Focal Point extensions on your computer. Focal Point is software that integrates e-mail, voicemail, fax paging, data communications, and Internet access. Focal Point software can come pre-installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

You can use the Outlook Add-In Manager to disable the Focal Point extensions. To disable Focal Point extensions:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.

  3. In Advanced Options, click Add-In Manager.

  4. In the list of add-ins, click to clear the check box for any add-in that references Focal Point software.

  5. Click OK, OK, and OK to close all dialog boxes.

  6. On the File menu, click Exit and Log Off. If you use the Internet Mail Only (IMO) installation option, click Exit on the File menu.

  7. If you use the Corporate or Workgroup installation option, press CTL+ALT+DELETE. Make sure that Mapisp32 does not appear in the list. If it does, either wait for it to stop running or end the task.

  8. Restart Outlook.
