OL2000: Error Message "The Stored Calling Card Information May Be Corrupt"

SYMPTOMS

When starting Outlook, or when editing Outlook contacts, you may receive the following error message:

The stored calling card information may be corrupt. Would you like to reset to default values?

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you have a damaged or incorrect format for a telephony file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem remove and replace Telephon.ini:

1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.



2. In the Named box, type Telephon.ini.



3. In the Look in list, click to select the drive you have Windows installed on. For example, C:. Click Find Now.



4. In the found files list, right-click the Telephon.ini file, and then click Rename. Rename the file to Telephon.old.



5. Close the Find dialog box.



6. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type tapiini, and then click OK.



7. Restart your computer.

The Telephon.ini file stores the settings for all TAPI-enabled applications, such as Fax and Dial-Up Networking.
