Follow these steps to turn on Reply Ticking for e-mail messages:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Preferences tab.

  2. Click E-mail Options.

  3. In the "On replies and forwards" section, under "When replying to a message" and/or "When forwarding a message," click "Prefix each line of the original message." In the "Prefix each line with" box, type the character you want to use as the tick mark.

  4. Click OK. When you receive the following message, click OK:

If you prefix each line of replies or forwards with a character, the spelling checker cannot ignore the original message, and checks the entire message for misspellings. To change your reply style, use E-mail Options on the Preferences tab.
