SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Outlook, when you attempt to send or receive an e-mail
message, you may receive the following error message:
NOTE: In some cases the page fault has been observed to occur in Module Kernel32.dll. CAUSEThis error message may occur if you install the Windows Sockets (Winsock) 2 Update, but do not update Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) using the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files. RESOLUTIONNOTE: If you have not already installed the Winsock 2 upgrade (Wsockupg.exe), you should do so before continuing with the following steps. To resolve this behavior, run the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files from the Microsoft Software Library. To do this, follow these steps:
and http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Vtcpup20.exe NOTE: Because the Microsoft Web site is constantly updated, the site address may change without notice. If this occurs, link to the Microsoft home page at the following address: http://www.microsoft.com/ To work around this behavior, revert to Winsock 1.1 by uninstalling the Winsock 2 Update. To do this, double-click the Ws2bakup.bat file located in the following folder: <drive>:\<windows>\ws2bakupWhere <drive> is the drive letter on which the Windows folder is located, and <windows> is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed. MORE INFORMATIONIf you install the Winsock 2 Update but do not update TCP/IP, the Inetcomm.dll file is not updated to a version that is compatible with the Winsock 2 Update. When you install the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files, the Inetcomm.dll file is properly updated. REFERENCES
