NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMSAfter making a scheduled connection to the Internet to send or receive mail, Microsoft Outlook 98 disconnects even though you did not select the "Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or updating" dialing option. CAUSEThe mail account option, "Check for new messages every <n> minutes," is designed to help you cut down on Internet connection charges. After each scheduled connection completes its sending and receiving process, Outlook terminates the connection. RESOLUTION
Outlook honors the "Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or updating"
dialing setting when you initiate the connection manually from within
Outlook by clicking the Tools menu and then Send and Receive.
