NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Outlook 98, when you compose a new mail message from a contact using the Actions menu and selecting New Message to Contact, the address appears in SMTP format rather than a friendly name. The raw SMTP address in the Contact is not resolved to a friendly name when the form is saved. CAUSEThis occurs because there is no default link from Contacts to an address book provider in the Internet Mail Only installation of Outlook. RESOLUTIONTo create a link to the Address Book and your Contacts so that addresses are resolved to a friendly name, follow these steps: Create a New Contact with SMTP Address
