OL98: How to Import the Corel Suite 8 Address Book

The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARY
Microsoft Outlook 98 cannot directly import information from the Corel
Address Book. However, Corel WordPerfect Suite 8, is able to export to an
ANSI text format with an extension of .abx, which can then be imported into
Outlook Contacts.

- Click Tools > Address Book.
- Click a tab to display an address book.
- If you want to export only selected records, press Ctrl while clicking
the items you want to export.
- Click Book > Export.
- If any items have been selected, click either Entire Address Book or
Selected Items. (One item is selected by default when opening the
Address Book.)
- Specify a file location and name, then click OK.
NOTE: Groups are not exported.
To Import Address Book information into Outlook
NOTE: To import this file into Outlook, you must manually map the incoming
address book fields into the appropriate Outlook fields. To do this, you
must install the "Importer Field Mapping Patch for Outlook 98" or use
another interim mapping technique. For more information, please see the
article referenced in the REFERENCES section below.
- In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
- Click to select "Import from another program of file" and click Next.
- Click to select Comma separated values (Windows) and click Next.
- Type the path and name or Browse to the Corel address book file exported above and click Next.
Note: If you browse to the .abx file, the browse dialog only shows .csv files. You must type the filename in the File Name box and then click OK to open the file.
- Click to select the Contacts file into which you wish to import the
address book file and click Next.
- Complete the Import Wizard's instructions.
