NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option (CW). This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation. SYMPTOMSIf you install Microsoft Outlook on Microsoft Windows 98, you may not have Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Fax as available services in Outlook. CAUSE
Windows Messaging (previously known as Exchange Client) and Microsoft Fax
(previously known as At Work Fax) are no longer available as installation
options with Windows 98.
RESOLUTIONRun the Windows Messaging (Wms.exe) installer and the Microsoft Fax (Awfax.exe) installer from the <cd drive>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us folder on your Windows 98 compact disc. Then install Outlook 98. MORE INFORMATIONYou install Windows Messaging and Microsoft Fax by running standalone installation programs from your Windows 98 compact disc. You can find these programs in the folder: <CD drive>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us\ To Install Windows Messaging
To Install Microsoft FaxNOTE: Microsoft Fax requires the installation of a full MAPI client, such as Windows Messaging, Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft Outlook 97.
NOTE: If these file(s) are installed over an existing installation of Outlook 98 (Corporate or Workgroup), rerun setup from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. This is needed to update the files used by Outlook 98, that are needed in a newer configuration.
