SYMPTOMSWhen faxing a document after upgrading from Microsoft Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook 98, you receive the following error: If you try to fax from Microsoft Word you may get the following error:
CAUSEThis problem occurs because a long file name path was written into the Exepath of [OLFax] section in the WIN.INI file. RESOLUTIONTo send the fax, edit the ExePath to an MS-DOS file name. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98. MORE INFORMATIONTo get the correct path information into the WIN.INI determine the MS-DOS name for each folder in the path. Once you know this, you can then edit the WIN.INI [OLFax] section with the correct path information. Find the MS-DOS Names For the Folders in the PathIf you know the path to the location where your Office programs are Installed, find the MS-DOS names for each folder in the path. The default installation path for Office programs is:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<program name>.exeTo determine these names, follow these steps:
