OL98: (CW) ErrMsg: "Please Save the Task Order..."

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

After pressing the ENTER key to add a new Task, instead of opening a new blank task, you get the following message:

Please save the task order by clicking 'Save Task Order' on the 'Actions' menu. The view must not be filtered or grouped for 'Save Task Order' to be available.


MORE INFORMATION

This can be caused by damage in the Task folder itself and not the Tasks in the folder. To create a new Task folder follow these steps:

Create a New Task Subfolder

  1. On the View menu, click Folder List if it is not visible.


  2. Right-click the Tasks folder, and then click New Folder.


  3. Type a name for the folder. Folder Contains, will be set to Task Items by default. Click OK.


  4. Open the old Tasks folder.


  5. On the Edit menu, click Select All.


  6. On the Edit menu, click Copy.


  7. On the Folder list, click to select the new Tasks folder, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.
