SYMPTOMS

When starting the Microsoft Outlook 98 Forms designer you may get the following error message:

Outlook caused an invalid page fault in module PDM.DLL at 0137:4a0060c5


MORE INFORMATION

The PDM.dll is the Process Debug Manager; it is installed when you install the Development Tools. This file can also installed by other programs such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, and such. There may also be other programs that install a version of this file.

To resolve the problem, delete PDM.dll and re-install the Outlook Development Tools.

Delete PDM.dll

  1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.


  2. Type PDM.dll and then click Find Now.


  3. In the search results, right-click PDM.dll and click Delete. Close the Find window.


Re-install Outlook Development Tools

  1. Close all running programs including any anti-virus programs.


  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and double-click Control Panel.


  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.


  4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Outlook 98, and then click Add/Remove.


  5. In the Active Setup window, click Add New Components.


  6. Click Install From CD or Install From Web, depending on how you originally installed Outlook. Click Yes to allow Active setup to search for installed components.


  7. Click to select Development Tools, even if Status reads Already Installed. Click Yes when asked if you want to reinstall this component. Click Next.


  8. Click Install Now to start the install process.


  9. When the install is finished, click Yes to restart Windows.
