OL98: (IMO) Error in "Exporting your address book contacts"

The information in this article applies to:

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SUMMARY

In the "Exporting your address book contacts" Help topic found in the Address Book, the instructions are incorrect.

The instructions state:


   In the Address Book, click the File menu, point to Export, and then
   click Address Book. 
Address Book does not appear on this menu.


MORE INFORMATION

Choose one of the following methods to export your contact information.

Method 1

  1. Click the Start button and click Run.


  2. Type wab in the Open box, and click OK.


  3. On the File menu, point to Export, and then click Address Book.


  4. Click "Text File (Comma Separated Values)," and click Export.


  5. Type a file name, or click Browse to locate a file to save the exported information in, and click Next.


  6. Click to select the fields you wish to export, and click Finish.


  7. When the export is completed, click OK, and click Close.


Method 2

  1. On the File menu, click Import And Export.


  2. Click "Export to a file," and click Next.


  3. Click "Comma Separated Values (Windows)," or one of the other formats, and click Next. Use "Personal Folder File (.pst)" if you intend to import the data into Outlook on another computer.


  4. Click to select the Contacts folder to export from, and click Next.


  5. Type a file name, or click Browse to locate a file to save the exported information in, and click Next.


  6. Ensure that 'Export "Contacts" from the "Contacts" folder' is selected, and click Finish.
