NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SUMMARY

Groups are used in the Internet Mail Only installation of Microsoft Outlook 98 to provide multiple addressee functionality often referred to as a distribution list. This article describes the steps to create a group using the Windows Address Book.

A group is used to send a mail message to multiple recipients. To create a group in Outlook, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Address Book.


  2. In Address Book, on the File menu, click New Group. In Group Name, type an appropriate descriptive name for the group.


  3. Click Select Members and then choose each member to add to the group, and then click Select to add the recipient to the Members list.

    NOTE: You may select multiple members by holding down the CTRL key as you click each name in the Address Book list.


  4. Click OK to save the new Group.


To use the Group you created, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click New and then Mail Message.


  2. Click To and select the Group you wish to use. In Message Recipients click To, Cc or Bcc to place the group in the appropriate box of the message. Click OK.
