OL98: How to Programmatically Hide Pages of an Outlook Form

When creating custom Outlook forms, you may want to hide or display pages based on certain conditions. This can be done by using the HideFormPage and ShowFormPage methods of the Inspector object.

1. Create a new project (Standard EXE).



2. Add a reference to the Outlook Object Model.



3. Add the following code to the General Declarations:




Dim objOutApp As Outlook.application
Dim Mail As AppointmentItem 

4. Add the following code to the Load event of the form:




Set objOutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.application")
Set Mail = objOutApp.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem)
Mail.Display 

5. Add two command buttons to the form and set the captions to Hide Page and Show Page.



6. In the Click Event of the Hide Page button, add the following code:




objOutApp.ActiveInspector.HideFormPage ("Appointment") 

7. In the Click Event of the Show Page button, add the following code:




objOutApp.ActiveInspector.ShowFormPage ("Appointment") 

8. Compile and run the application.



9. Click Hide Page and then click Show Page.
