NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMSYour automatic dial-up connection to an Internet Mail account always hangs up after completing the transaction. This is true even if you have not chosen the option to disconnect after sending, receiving and updating. CAUSEThis behavior is by design. Background dialing always hangs up when the activity is completed. RESOLUTIONFor a dial-up connection to remain persistent, you must manually initiate it. The option to remain connected after completing a dial-up session is designed for manually initiated connections only. If you have a dial-up connection set to automatically dial in the background every few minutes, it will always disconnect after the activity is completed. Additional query words: 98
