OL98: Does Not Remove Schedule+ Data from Server When Installed from an ODK Package

ID: Q221242

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 98
  • Microsoft Outlook 98 Deployment Kit

SYMPTOMS

The Outlook 98 Deployment Kit allows users to build Outlook packages with preconfigured options. Two of the options you can configure are to Import Microsoft Schedule+ data into the Outlook calendar, and remove the Schedule+ data from the Microsoft Exchange Server. If you select these two options in your package, users who install the package may end up with duplicate appointments.

The duplicate appointments will occur if a user installs a package multiple times and logs into the same mailbox. This can be done by reinstalling the package on the same computer, or installing the package on two separate computers and logging in to the same mailbox from each computer.

CAUSE

The first time Outlook is run, the "First Run" code is executed. This code will look at some of the settings configured in the ODK. There was a logic error that prevented the removal of the Schedule+ data from the Exchange Server.

If a user installs an ODK package a second time, the Schedule+ data will be imported a second time since it was not deleted from the server.
