OL98: Modifying an Item with an Attachment Causes Invalid Parameter Error When Posted

ID: Q230271

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 98

SYMPTOMS

When changing a posted discussion item and reposting it using the Revise Contents command, you receive this error message:

Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.
When you click Cancel, the original message is deleted.

This occurs only on local information stores (.pst files), or in offline store (.ost) mode with Outlook Rich Text Format, when you modify an item with an attachment.

CAUSE

Using the Revise Contents command creates a new message object and copies the original data into this object. Posting this new message causes the problem.
