MORE INFORMATION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

Remove the Personal Folders References from the Registry

NOTE: These steps remove the entire container that holds the references to all of the Personal Folders in the folder list. If you use more than one set of Personal Folders you should make a note of their paths so they can be easily found to put back in the Folder List as described in the following section.
  1. Quit Outlook.

  2. On the Start menu, click Run, type regedit, and click OK.

  3. Click to select the following registry key:

  4. HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows Messaging Subsystem/Profiles/Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings
  5. Right-click the selected registry key and click Delete on the shortcut menu.

  6. Restart Outlook and answer Yes to the opening question.

NOTE: Outlook will create an empty Personal Folders file.

Add the Personal Folders Files You Want

  1. On the File menu, point to Open, and click Personal Folders File (.pst).

  2. Click to select a Personal Folders file, and click OK.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each Personal Folders file you wish to use.

  4. Right-click the empty Personal Folders file, and click Close Personal Folders.
