NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe. SYMPTOMSYou are not able to remove a Personal Folders file by right-clicking it on the Folder List and then clicking, Close Personal Folders. RESOLUTIONRemove all the Personal Folders references by deleting the container entry from the registry, and then add those you want to keep. MORE INFORMATIONWARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Remove the Personal Folders References from the RegistryNOTE: These steps remove the entire container that holds the references to all of the Personal Folders in the folder list. If you use more than one set of Personal Folders you should make a note of their paths so they can be easily found to put back in the Folder List as described in the following section.
