SYMPTOMSIf you open a read-only message from a public folder in Microsoft Outlook, the message Title Bar displays "-Message (Read-Only)." If you edit and try to save the message, you receive a prompt to save the message in the default folder for this item type. If you click Yes, Outlook saves a copy of the message, but the Title Bar still reflects the read-only status. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the original, read-only message in the public folder is the active window, rather than the saved copy of the message that is in your Inbox. WORKAROUNDYou must open and edit the saved copy of the message in your Inbox. MORE INFORMATIONIf you open a message from a public folder, the title bar reflects the read-only status. If you edit the message, and then click Save on the File menu, Outlook will display the following message: If you click Yes, Outlook will save a copy of the message to your default folder for that item type. For messages, the default folder is your delivery Inbox. The new message does not become the active window. Each attempt to save the read-only message saves a new copy in your default folder.
