OL97: Messages Directed to a New PST May not be Downloaded

SYMPTOMS
If you add a new Personal Folders file (PST) and direct mail to be
delivered there, when running Microsoft Outlook 97 connected to an
Microsoft Exchange Server, messages currently residing in the server Inbox
may not be immediately moved to the PST.
RESOLUTION
Restart Outlook and the existing messages will be downloaded to the PST.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97
version 8.03. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Start Outlook with a profile containing only the Microsoft Exchange
Server service.
- If there are no messages in the Inbox, send a message to yourself.
- Add a Personal Folder file (PST).
- On the Tools menu, Click Services.
- On the Services tab, click Add.
- From the "Available information services" list, click to select
"Personal Folders" and then click OK.
- Type a name for the new PST file and click Open.
- Type a name for the new Personal Folder set and click OK.
- On the Delivery Tab, in the "Deliver new mail to the following
location" list, click to choose the new PST and then click OK.
RESULT: You will have the new PST listed in your Folder List. The messages
currently residing in your server Inbox will not be downloaded to the new
PST until you restart Outlook.
