OL97: How to Print Messages Without Heading Fields

SUMMARY
By default, Microsoft Outlook 97 mail messages include heading fields when
printed. This article describes how you can control which fields are
printed with the message.

You can control printing of message heading fields by modifying the message
form before printing it from Outlook, or by saving the message in Rich Text
Format (RTF) and using Microsoft Word to modify and print the message.
To Modify the Message Form in Outlook
- Open the mail message in Outlook.
- On the Tools Menu, click Design Outlook Form.
- Right-click to select the field you want to remove (select the
field, not its label).
- On the shortcut menu, click Properties.
- On the Validation tab, click to clear the "Include this field for
printing and Save As" check box and then click OK.
- Close and Save the message.
- Print the message from Outlook.
RESULT: The field removed in step 3 is not printed. Other mail messages
will not be affected.
To Modify and Print the Message from Word
- Save the message in Rich Text Format.
- In Outlook, Open the mail message.
- On the File menu, click Save As.
- In the Save As Type list, click to select "RTF Text Format
(*.RTF)."
- Type a name for the message in the File Name box and click Save.
- Close the message.
- Modify and Print the Message from Word.
- Open the RTF file in Word.
- Delete or modify the header fields as necessary.
- On the File menu, click Print and OK.
