OL97: Send Button Missing on Attached Unsent Mail

SYMPTOMS

When you open an attached mail message that has not been sent, the Send button for the attached mail message will not be available.


RESOLUTION

Drag the attached mail message to your desktop and then open the message by double-clicking it. The Send button will now be available.

To Insert a Shortcut into a Message

  1. Create a new message, on the Insert menu, click Item.


  2. In Look In, click to select the folder that contains the item you wish to attach.


  3. In Items, click to select the item you wish to attach.


  4. In Insert As, click Shortcut. Click OK to return to your mail message.


You may wish to create a mail message, save it and send it at a later time. If you send the message as an attachment to another mail message the Send button will not be available for the original message.

NOTE: You can not send shortcuts over the Internet. You can only send a shortcut if the item resides on the network the recipient is connected to.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. On the Compose menu, click New Mail Message.


  2. Type an e-mail address, type a Subject, (message A in this example) and enter some body text.


  3. Close message A and click Yes to save the changes. The unsent message is now in your Inbox.


  4. on the Compose menu, click New Mail Message, type your e-mail address and type a Subject (message B in this example.)


  5. Attach message A by dragging it to the body of message B


  6. Click Send.


  7. In the Inbox double-click message B to open it.


  8. Double-click the attached message A to open it.


RESULTS: The Send button is not available for message A.
