OL97: ErrMsg: WMS Spooler Is Not Responding

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
When attempting to close Microsoft Outlook 97, the program may stop
responding.
-or-
When attempting to shut down the computer before closing Outlook, you may
get the following error message:
WMS Spooler is not responding
CAUSE
The Wmsui.dll or Wmsui32.dll file is missing or damaged.
RESOLUTION
Replace the current copies of the Wmsui.dll and Wmsui32.dll files with new
ones from your Microsoft Office 97 setup medium.
MORE INFORMATION
To replace the existing Wmsui.dll and Wmsui32.dll files, follow these
steps:
- Rename the old Wmsui.dll and Wmsui32.dll files on your hard drive.
The default installation location is the \Windows\System folder.
- Copy the Wmsui.dll and Wmsui32.dll files from your Office 97 CD
(or other setup medium) into the \Windows\System folder.
- Right-click each file in Windows Explorer and click to remove the
READ-ONLY attribute.
For more information about renaming files, type "rename file" in the Office
Assistant, click Search, and then click to view "Rename a file."
