-
Microsoft Outlook 97
-
Microsoft Word 97 for Windows
SYMPTOMS
When you view a message that is a reply, if the message contains bullets
and numbers (applied in that order), the periods that should appear after
the numbers are blank boxes instead.
CAUSE
This symptom occurs if all of the following conditions are true:
- You created the original message using Microsoft Word 97 as the e-mail
editor.
- The Microsoft Office Service Release 1 Patch (SR-1) is not installed.
- Rich Text Formatting was applied to the original message.
- The reply came from an Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) client.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, do not use Word as the e-mail editor. To
disable Word as the editor, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the E-mail tab.
- Click to clear (uncheck) the "Use Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor"
check box, and click OK.
To resolve this problem, obtain and install the Microsoft Outlook Service
Release 1 (SR-1) Patch, using any of the following methods:
- Download the SR-1 Patch from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/articles/sr1fact.htm
- Order the SR-1 Patch from the following Microsoft Web Site:
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/articles/sr1fact.htm
You can order the SR-1 Patch on compact disc or on 3.5-inch disks on the
Microsoft Web site. Note that you will be required to provide your
Product ID (PID) number, which can be found in the About box (click
About on the Help menu) in your current Office 97 program.
- Order the SR-1 Patch on compact disc or on floppy disk by calling
the Supplemental Part Order Center at (800)-370-9272.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. This
problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1).
