SYMPTOMS

After closing Microsoft Outlook 97 all mapped drives and network connections appear to be missing when viewing the Network Neighborhood.

Also when exiting the Outlook client after attaching a file from a Novell Network share you may get the following warning message:

This connection must be maintained for Novell Directory Services use on tree(TREE Name). It can only be removed after logging off Directory Services on the tree. Do you wish to log out of Directory Services on tree(TREE Name) now?

CAUSE

This is a known problem with Novell intraNetWare Client for Windows 95 v2.20. This has been confirmed with the Novell article TID 2929518.

RESOLUTION

Download the NOVELLNP.EXE file from Novell. This is a self-extracting file that contains an updated NOVELLNP.DLL. To obtain this file visit the Novell Web site at

http://www.novell.com/download
Microsoft has not tested the workaround supplied by Novell and therefore cannot guarantee its results.
