SYMPTOMSMicrosoft Outlook 97 is slow to start and quit when running under Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. CAUSEThe incorrect version of MSVCRT40.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL are installed on the computer. RESOLUTIONThe files, MSVCRT40.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL, may be the wrong size or an incompatible version. The correct sizes for these files are as follows:
Both files should be in the C:\winnt\system32 folder.
If you find that the sizes of these files on your computer are not correct, copy them from the Microsoft Office 97 or Outlook 97 compact disc. The MSVCRT40.DLL file is located on the root folder of the CD. The MSVCRT.DLL file is located on the CD at:
To replace these files first rename the files on your computer and then
replace the files with copies from your original discs.
