XCLN: Outlook 8.03 Stays in Memory after Exiting

SYMPTOMS

Outlook will not exit from memory after you start a custom form and drag an attachment into the rich text format (RTF) body of that form.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Outlook 97 service pack that contains this fix.

WORKAROUND

A reference to the form was not being released.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook for Windows 3.x, Exchange Server Edition 8.0.

This problem is also fixed in Microsoft Outlook 98.
