OL97: Error Message: "Outlook Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module Msvcrt.dll" When Creating an Appointment

SYMPTOMS

When you try to create a new appointment you may receive the following error message:

Outlook caused an Invalid Page Fault in module Msvcrt.dll


CAUSE

The program Registry Fixer, a component of Fix-It Utilities 2000 and the System Suite 2000, published by Mijenix Corporation, may have made changes to the registry which prevents the creation of new appointments.


RESOLUTION

Run the Undo function in Registry Fixer.

This error occurs when your run the Registry Cleaner (Fix-It) and choose to remove unused time zones. You can click the drop-down list and see what time zones are going to be removed. You might note that your time zone is listed for deletion even though it is in use.

What you are left with in the Registry is the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Time Zones
with a value of:
(Default) "Pacific Standard Time"
Additionally, if you open the Control Panel, Date and Time, Time Zone (tab), you may receive the following error message:
An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file <windir>\system\timedate.cpl
