PPT2000: Title Text Doesn't Stand Out w/ Some Preset Backgrounds

ID: Q197935

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 For Windows

SUMMARY

If you apply a fill effect that contains a dark color to a PowerPoint presentation, the text may appear poorly. Examples of these fill effects include the Nightfall and Late Sunset.

The default Title text color and Text and lines color is black, and the default background color is white. By clicking Background on the Format menu, it is possible to change the background color without altering the slide color scheme. If the background is changed to a dark gradient fill effect, or any color or pattern that is similar to that of text or objects, it will create a situation where the text is hard to distinguish from the background.

MORE INFORMATION

To correct this issue, you must format the slide color scheme so that the text becomes easy to read. Use the following steps:

  1. On the Format menu, click Slide Color Scheme.

  2. Click the Custom Tab.

  3. Click the color box to the immediate left of the Text and lines Scheme color and click Change Color.

  4. Select a new color that will be easy to distinguish from the background and click OK.

Repeat this process for the Title text Scheme color.

You can preview your new scheme with the Preview button, apply the scheme to a single slide with the Apply button, or change every slide layout in your presentation by clicking the Apply to All button.
