PPT2000: Full Screen Show Doesn't Return to Browsed Show Correctly

ID: Q212508

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 For Windows

SYMPTOMS

If you view a Slide Show that is configured to be viewed in a window and then you switch to a full-screen show, it does not quit correctly.

If you press ESC or click End Show on the Slide Show menu, the Slide Show does not end. Instead, it switches back to being a browsed show. To quit the Slide Show correctly, you have to end it again.

CAUSE

When you run a browsed slide show and then switch to a full-screen show, PowerPoint starts a second copy of that Slide Show. You can press the ALT+TAB keys on your keyboard to switch back and forth between the two shows.

When you switch to the browsed slide show, PowerPoint will display a floating toolbar with one button (Resume Slide Show) named Slide Show. If you click Resume Slide Show after you use ALT+TAB to navigate to this slide show, you will go back to the full screen slide show.

WORKAROUND

When you have created these two instances of the Slide Show, you have to end each instance separately.
