SYMPTOMS

If you insert a PowerPoint 2000 Web presentation into a standard presentation as an embedded object and you try to activate it either by double-clicking on it, choosing Activate Contents from the context menu, or by clicking on the icon while in slide show, you get one of the following error messages:

  • If you have inserted the filename.htm into the presentation, the browser displays the "File not found" error page.

Where filename.htm is the name of the presentation, followed by the .htm extension.

  • If you have inserted one the individual slide pages, then you receive the following error message at least once:
    A Runtime Error has occurred.
/> Do you wish to Debug?

    Line: XXX
    Error: Errormsg
When you click No, you receive a blank slide with the background color of the Web presentation.

XXX refers to the line number the error occurred at.
Errormsg refers to the error found at the above line number.

In either case, you will receive this first warning:
You are about to activate an inserted object that might contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer.
Make sure the object if from a trustworthy source.
Do you want to continue?
