SYMPTOMS
If you open a web page in Microsoft PowerPoint, the formatting may appear differently than it does in Microsoft Internet Explorer or other types of Web browsers.
CAUSE
HTML that was not generated inside Microsoft PowerPoint, or PowerPoint HTML that has been edited in another application may be reformatted when imported into Microsoft PowerPoint for editing. For PowerPoint to successfully save presentations in HTML format and open them back up again, it must interpret HTML code in a specific way, and insert page formatting information not necessary in other HTML documents. If an HTML document contains code that PowerPoint cannot interpret, that code will be discarded.
RESOLUTION
Once the HTML document has been imported, it must be manually reformatted inside Microsoft PowerPoint.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
