  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to Insert Slides from a file to an HTTP server, you may receive the following error message after you browse to your presentation in the Slide Finder:

HTML Import Errors
Problems came up in the following areas during load:
Missing file: C:\<path>\<presentation>\pres.xml
When you click OK, the presentation will not be displayed properly.

CAUSE

When you click Browse in the Slide Finder window to locate your presentation on an HTTP server, PowerPoint requests an incorrect or invalid file name. This file name is generated by PowerPoint and is an internal error that cannot be corrected.

WORKAROUND

To open a presentation that is saved in HTML format from an HTTP server, you must manually type the path to a PowerPoint presentation instead of browsing to it with Browse. If you have a presentation called Mypres.htm on http://www.microsoft.com, type the following information into the Find Presentation portion of the Slide Finder window:

http://www.microsoft.com/mypres.htm

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
