PPT2000: Pressing F4 (Repeat) Applies Incorrect Black and White Formatting

ID: Q226789

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000

SYMPTOMS

If you are working in Black and White view, and attempt to use the F4 (Repeat) key (or the CTRL+Y key combination) to repeat a black and white color setting, the wrong black and white color setting may be applied.

Depending upon which Black and White formatting option you have selected, the object may be black, white, invisible (against certain backgrounds) or even color.

WORKAROUND

Method 1

Manually change the Black and White settings for objects instead of pressing the F4 key.

Method 2

Select an object and select the Black and White formatting option directly after the one you want to apply to multiple objects using the F4 key. Select objects and press F4 as needed to change as many objects to your selected Black and White setting. When you are finished, manually change the original object to the desired setting.

NOTE: If you select the Automatic Black and White option, pressing the F4 key will render subsequent objects in color.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
