SUMMARY
When you start PowerPoint 2000 for Windows, it does not make sure that all the keys it writes to the Windows 9x or Windows NT Registry are correct. Many of the PowerPoint keys can be missing or corrupt, and
PowerPoint will not automatically correct them. This behavior is
different from previous versions of PowerPoint and is intended
to improve PowerPoint 2000's performance.
MORE INFORMATION
If you have trouble opening files with a .ppt extension (in PowerPoint 2000), or inserting a PowerPoint Slide or PowerPoint Presentation into other programs, PowerPoint 2000 may not be registered correctly in the Windows registry. For example, you may need to re-register PowerPoint 2000 after you install the 32-bit Viewer for PowerPoint version 7.0.
