PPT2000: Error "There is an object that is not available."

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, you may receive the following error:

MSFORMS
There is an object that is not available.
Your only choice is to click OK. After you do that, PowerPoint starts normally.


CAUSE

This error occurs if you have MetaCreations' Office Advantage version 1.0.2.x or earlier installed. These versions are not designed for use with Microsoft Office 2000, and so features and functions may not work correctly.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download the Office Advantage upgrade from the MetaCreations Web site:

http://www5.metacreations.com/products/advantage/updates/index.html
Follow the instructions listed on this site on upgrading to Office Advantage version 1.0.4.
