PPT2000: How to Place Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 (*.pdf) Files on a Slide

ID: Q248030

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000

SUMMARY

Microsoft PowerPoint does not directly support conversion from Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF is the format in which you view and exchange documents for Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 and Adobe Acrobat Exchange for Windows.

NOTE: These steps only apply to Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.x and not earlier or later versions.

MORE INFORMATION

To convert a PDF document from Adobe Acrobat Reader to Microsoft PowerPoint, follow these steps:

  1. Open your PDF document into Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows.

  2. Select the content of the current screen image that you want to use in PowerPoint by doing one of the following:

    • To select and copy text, do the following in Adobe Acrobat Reader:

      1. On the Tools menu, click Select Text.

      2. Click and drag the mouse pointer (which resembles an I-beam) over the text you want to copy. The text is selected (highlighted).

    • To select and copy a graphic, do the following:

      1. On the Tools menu, click Select Graphics.

      2. Click and drag the mouse pointer (which resembles a large plus sign [+]) around the picture or graphic you want to copy.

  3. On the Edit menu, click Copy.

  4. In Microsoft PowerPoint, click Paste on the Edit menu.

Text pasted from Adobe Acrobat retains its character-level formatting, for example: fonts, bold, italic, underline, color, and so on. Text does not retain graphics, paragraph formatting, and other formatting when copied to the Windows Clipboard.

NOTE: If someone has set security in a PDF file, you may be unable to select and copy the contents of the PDF document for use in PowerPoint.
