PPT97: File Opens as Read-Only if Active in Slide Finder

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft PowerPoint may open a presentation as Read-Only without giving you any message about the presentation already being open.


CAUSE

This occurs if you display a presentation in the Slide Finder while you try to open the same presentation.


RESOLUTION

Close the Slide Finder dialog box before opening the file in PowerPoint. It opens as expected.
