The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you paste a CorelDRAW! version 7.0 or Canvas for Windows version 5.0 graphic into PowerPoint 97, it appears as a blank rectangle. CAUSE
PowerPoint attempts to paste the CorelDRAW! or Canvas object as an OLE
object. When PowerPoint queries the source of the object to determine
if it is an enhanced metafile, the OLE source confirms that it is, but
PowerPoint does not recognize the screen representation as a valid
enhanced metafile and pastes the object as a blank rectangle.
WORKAROUNDIf you pasted the object, double-click the blank rectangle. When the picture opens in CorelDraw! or Canvas, click outside the picture to close the object and return to PowerPoint. If the picture does not appear, do the following:
