SYMPTOMS
When you save a presentation from one of the versions of PowerPoint
listed at the beginning of this article in PowerPoint 4.0 format,
PowerPoint saves the date incorrectly and it will be displayed as an
asterisk rather than the correct date.
CAUSEThe PP7trans.dll file that PowerPoint uses to translate the file to PowerPoint 4.0 format does not handle dates greater than 2038. WORKAROUNDSTATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
