PPT97: Viewer Slide Navigation Menu Doesn't Show All Slides

ID: Q193029

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

If your presentation contains approximately fifty or more slides, and you point to Go and then click By Title on the Slide Navigation menu, you may not be able to see all of the slide titles in the list that appears.

NOTE: To see the Slide Navigation menu, right-click the presentation while viewing it in Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer.

CAUSE

PowerPoint Viewer does not provide a list of slide titles that you can scroll through like the PowerPoint Slide Show feature. This is a design limitation. The actual number of slides listed depends on the screen resolution, font size, and number of slides in the presentation. The Slide Navigator used by the Slide Show feature in Microsoft PowerPoint is implemented using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications. Because PowerPoint Viewer does not support Visual Basic for Applications, the Slide Navigator feature does not exist in PowerPoint Viewer.
