PPT2000: Resetting Customized Toolbars in PowerPoint

SUMMARY

PowerPoint enables you to customize the contents and the position of toolbars. This article describes how to reset PowerPoint to the default toolbar settings.

To display or hide any individual toolbar, use the following steps:

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and click Customize.


  2. Click on the Toolbars tab, and select the toolbar options you want.


To restore original settings for a built-in toolbar button or menu command, use the following method:
  1. Display the toolbar that has the button or menu command you want to restore. If the toolbar you want to restore is not visible, from the View menu, point to Toolbars, and click the Toolbar you want view.


  2. On the Tools menu, click Customize.


  3. To restore a toolbar button, right-click the button, and then click Reset on the shortcut menu.


  4. To restore a menu command, click the menu that contains the command, right-click the command, and then click Reset on the shortcut menu.

    NOTE: The Reset command restores the built-in toolbar button or menu command to its original image, name, and command. The Reset command isn't available for a button that displays a list when clicked.


  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each additional toolbar you want to reset.
